The hip-hop singer spent Friday rounding up the dead from the rubble of Port-au-Prince, and said the violence – including the killing of a local boy working for his charity – and desperation is too much to bear.
“I am just frustrated,” he said. “Right now the country is in dire need of fuel, water, medicine.”
Jean, who was born in Haiti, said he arrived in the devastated capital on Thursday and went directly to where the people needed him most.
“My first mission was, how can we start removing the dead bodies from the street,” he said.
During their efforts, Fan Fan, a local boy who works with Jean’s foundation, was using a truck as a make-shift hearse and was shot to death as he drove away from a cemetery.
“Somebody wanted to carjack the car,” he said. “Two shots.”
The violence is coupled with the ever-present feeling that more buildings could fall in the aftershocks, Jean said.
“They are hitting like earthquakes,” he said. “In any minute we can be under the debris. I slept outside.”
Jean said he thinks he’d have more impact heading back to the United States and using his celebrity to speak out about what’s happening in Haiti.
On Jan. 22, Jean will co-host with George Clooney a “Hope for Haiti” all-star telethon that will air on nearly every network.
“The least I could do is just help my country,” he said.

Yeah Timaya is back! The self-acclaimed Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa just dropped a new single titled "Plantain Boy."
Sticking to his self-appraisal style, Timaya takes listeners back to his humble beginning when he sold plantain for his mother before music brought him fame and fortune. He also emphasizes on how much his life has changed, how rich he is now and how thankful to God he is for His blessings stressing that even though he is now well-to-do, he remains that humble plantain seller.
This is the first official single off his forthcoming album, the follow-up to "The Gift and Grace". Although "The Gift and Grace" album was a success, Timaya has been plagued with issues ranging from his church brawl with estranged girlfriend Empress Njamah to public spats made at him by fellow artistes like Nico Gravity (who directed a diss track titled "I wan Finish Timaya" at him) and African China (who made negative comments about him on radio). He's been criticized for his self-appraisal style and repetitive lyrics from various quarters.
Yebariba crooner Sauce Kid recently wrapped up an interview with Liz Yemoja. In the interview, he calls out Terry G as a “swagga jacker” …literally! Apparently, Sauce sights his “Yebariba Swagga Swagga” joint from 2006 as the birth of the term “swagga” in Nigerian music.
Referring to Jesse Jagz's track titled "Jagga Swagga", Sauce Kid says “What is Jagga Swagga? Alot of dudes don’t have swag… You can’t tell me you have swag if I’ve never seen you pull up in a S-500 Benz…” Omo! Sauce no send anybody!
However Storm Records reportedly asked Liz Yemoja and Notjustok.com (the sources of the video of the interview) to take the video down.
"Storm is not here to support anybody dissing other artists or creating or generating beef. Storm have respect for Terry G and Jesse Jagz and whatever personal issues Sauce has with them should not be coming out as if it was sanctioned by us", Obi Asika of Storm Records reportedly stated.

Award winning rapper Ruggedman last week was spotted entering a studio called O B Sound inside of Fagba,reason? He was there to hook up with and do a verse on Klever J's new single.Klever J is the artist that gave you Koni Koni Love and the club hit Igboro Ti Daru.He was also nominated at the just concluded Soundcity Music Video Music Awards for best collaboration video which was won by 2Face Idibia. It was fun in the studio as fans and friends came in to catch a glimps of Ruggedy Baba as he wrote,joked and laughed with everyone that came in.He finished writing,voiced his part,signed on the wall like every artist that''s worked in the studio have done,autographed his poster for the studio and left.By the time you are reading this the song has probably started playing on radio,because Klever J was over heard saying he has already designed and printed the promo cd sleeve,that all thats left was Ruggedman's part on the track. The song is titled "Sho Wa Sexy"? produced by beat master Spankie and mixed by the owner of O B Sound studio himself "O Black". Its the first single off Klever J's upcoming second album that has not been titled yet.He is working with producers like OJB,SPANKIE,PUFFY T,O BLACK,K SOLO.Its to be a 9 track album.
Los Angeles - Sony is to release a movie based on more than 80 hours of footage filmed during Michael Jackson's final days as he was rehearsing for his comeback concerts in London, trade paper Variety reported on Monday.
Sony is expected to pay over $50m for the rights to the footage, which was offered by concert promoter AEG to Hollywood film studios over the weekend.
The film will include several videos that were shot and meant to be shown during the concerts, including an alternative version of Jackson's most famous video, Thriller.
High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, who shot the rehearsal footage, is expected to become the director of the film, which could be released before year's end.
Though Universal, Paramount and 20th Century Fox were also interested in the footage, Sony had the inside track since the studio owns the music publishing rights to Jackson's songs.
The report said that AEG is also selling TV and video rights to the tribute concert featuring Justin Timberlake and other artists, scheduled for August 29, on what would have been Jackson's 51st birthday.
The singers will perform the songs that the King of Pop had planned, accompanied by the band that rehearsed with him.
The fifth annual Channel O Awards is coming up at Carnival City on Thursday, 29 October 2009.
The categories and nominees were released on 14 July - please find below the full list.

Good Luck To All The Artistes
"No country is going to create wealth if it's leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves, or police can be bought off by drug traffickers. No business wants to invest in a place where the government skims 20 per cent off the top, or the head of the port Authority is corrupt. No person wants to live in a society where the rule of law gives way to the rule of brutality and bribery.That is not democracy, that is tyranny: and now is the time for it to end"

Ethiopia: Scientist Named 2009 World Food Prize Laureate
11 June 2009
Dr. Gebisa Ejeta of Ethiopia has been named winner of the $250,000 World Food Prize for his monumental contributions in the production of sorghum, one of the world’s five principal cereal grains, which have dramatically enhanced the food supply of hundreds of millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was the featured speaker as Dr. Ejeta was announced as the 2009 Laureate at a ceremony at the U.S. State Department on June 11 that also featured Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, World Food Prize President Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn, and World Food Prize Chairman John Ruan III, among others.
Dr. Ejeta’s personal journey would lead him from a childhood in a one-room thatched hut in rural Ethiopia to the height of scientific acclaim as a distinguished professor, plant breeder, and geneticist at Purdue University. His work with sorghum, which is a staple in the diet of 500 million people living in sub-Saharan Africa, began in Ethiopia in the 1970s. Working in Sudan in the early 1980s, he developed Hageen Dura-1, the first ever commercial hybrid sorghum in Africa. This hybrid variety was tolerant to drought and out-yielded traditional varieties by up to 150 percent.
Dr. Ejeta next turned his attention to battling the scourge of Striga, a deadly parasitic weed which devastates farmers’ crops and severely limits food availability. Working with a colleague at Purdue University, he discovered the biochemical basis of Striga’s relationship with sorghum, and was able to produce many sorghum varieties resistant to both drought and Striga. In 1994, eight tons of Dr. Ejeta’s drought and Striga-resistant sorghum seeds were distributed to Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Yield increases were as much as four times the yield of local varieties, even in severe drought areas.
“By ridding Africa of the greatest biological impediment to food production, Dr. Ejeta has put himself in the company of some of the greatest researchers and scientists recognized by this award over the past 23 years,” said Vilsack. “The Obama Administration is inspired by the tireless efforts of Dr. Ejeta has demonstrated in the battle to eliminate food insecurity and is committed to employing a comprehensive approach to tackle the scourge of world hunger.”
Dr. Ejeta’s scientific breakthroughs in breeding drought-tolerant and Striga-resistant sorghum have been combined with his persistent efforts to foster economic development and the empowerment of subsistence farmers through the creation of agricultural enterprises in rural Africa. He has led his colleagues in working with national and local authorities and nongovernmental agencies so that smallholder farmers and rural entrepreneurs can catalyze efforts to improve crop productivity, strengthen nutritional security, increase the value of agricultural products, and boost the profitability of agricultural enterprise – thus fostering profound impacts on lives and livelihoods on broader scale across the African continent.

* Food and Agriculture
* U.S., Canada and Africa
* Sustainable Development
“Even while he was making breakthroughs in the lab, Dr. Ejeta took his work to the field,” said Clinton. “He knew that for his improved seeds to make a difference in people’s lives, farmers would have to use them – which meant they would need access to a seed market and the credit to buy supplies.”
“Dr. Ejeta’s accomplishments in improving sorghum illustrate what can be achieved when cutting-edge technology and international cooperation in agriculture are used to uplift and empower the world’s most vulnerable people,” added Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, founder of the World Food Prize. “His life is as an inspiration for young scientists around the world.”
The 2009 World Food Prize will be formally presented to Dr. Ejeta at a ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol on October 15, 2009
